Heating & Plumbing

KNW have Corgi registered gas engineers and highly skilled electrical engineers to carry out the installation & repair of gas and electrical appliances, from a home cooker to an entire central heating system.  All work is fully compliant with Part ‘P’ building regulations.

Gas and Electrical Services Include:

Corgi Registration

KNW’s registration with Corgi gives assurance that our technicians meet strict requirements with regard to their individual competence in carrying out gas related work.  They need to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and practical skills of work in relation to gas fittings and to carry out the work in such a way as to prevent danger to life and property.

By issuing valid certificates of competence to cover the areas of gas work which are intended to be undertaken, Corgi accept that required levels of competence have been met, giving clients the confidence to commission KNW to carry out works to their homes and premises.

Central Heating.

Changes in the Building Regulations and in particular Part L1 (energy efficiency) have meant that with a few exceptions all gas boilers installed in England and Wales since April 2005 have been condensing boilers.  Approximately 28% of carbon dioxide emissions are generated in the domestic sector and the majority of these are caused by producing heat and hot water in the home.

Since the change to Building Regulations details of boiler installations are required to be registered with the Local Authority Building control or CORGI to ensure that only the most efficient of boilers are installed and only by competent and registered installers.

We at KNW are committed to tackling climate change and only install the most fuel-efficient appliances when fitting new or replacement domestic gas wet and warm-air systems – all fully compliant with Part L1 of the revised regulations and our engineers are fully qualified to carry out the work.

Energy-saving and SEDBUK.

Q.  What is SEDBUK?  (Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the U.K.)

A.  It’s a system of rating the energy efficiency of individual boiler types and like domestic electrical appliances has an alphabetical rating with A being the most efficient.  It was developed under the Government’s energy efficiency best practice initiative and has the co-operation of the boiler manufacturers.

Previously, and again with a few exceptions, SEDBUK A and B boilers were installed to take advantage of energy efficiency financial subsidies towards the cost of the boiler.

The endorsement panel for the scheme, made up of independent environmental, policy and regulatory experts have recommended that the criteria be tightened so that only SEDBUK A-rated boilers are endorsed by the energy saving scheme – it is only these boiler types which now qualify for the subsidy.
